A signed, notarized app for Apple Silicon Macs.The aliens are broadcasting locally. Your music stays on your computer. Alien Pirate Radio is a private desktop radio app for your own music library. The Remote Listening feature lets you listen privately on your own devices, but it is not a public broadcasting service and does not grant rights to stream, share, or rebroadcast music.
What it does

Alien Pirate Radio turns a folder of local music into a living radio station. Alien presenters introduce your songs, hand over to scheduled shows, read optional Earth news bulletins, insert jingles, and occasionally reveal more about the invasion than they intend.
Choose a genre, artist, mood or playlist. Listen in Studio, Radio, or Mini Radio view. Let the station run in the background while the broadcast orbits around your collection.
In a recent update (v1.8.0) we added the option to listen remotely on another device using a browser or via a CarPlay-compatible data stream. See the User Guide for more information.
LOCAL MUSIC LIBRARY
Scan nested folders, metadata, playlists, genres, and artists. MP3, FLAC, WAV, M4A, AAC, and OGG supported.
AI PRESENTERS
Captain Venn, Commander Krell, DJ Spacedust and Archivist Neral each have their own voice, temperament, and relationship with humanity.
LOCAL AI
A locally-installed LLM generates the alien commentary on your own computer. No shared API key. No per-listener AI bill. Built-in fallback lines keep the station running when local AI is unavailable.
RADIO ATMOSPHERE
Jingles, ducking, compression, reverb, optional signal interference, scheduled shows and news handovers make it feel like a real station (with something to hide).
Message from Earth authorities: "These aliens may sound almost human, but don't be fooled! We believe they are using some sort of voice synthesis. At this point we have no idea of their anatomical structure or their intentions. We advise extreme caution."
Choose your listening style
Alien broadcast or normal radio?
Choose the full AI-generated radio experience for alien commentary, presenter personalities, station mythology, and the occasional accidental threat. Or switch to Normal radio station mode for sober presenters, simple track announcements, time checks, station identifiers, and Earth news.
Both modes use your music library and keep the station running locally on your computer.
Listening experience
It sounds like a radio station. Mostly.
The presenters are trying to keep humanity calm with familiar music. They are also trying to understand human behaviour, human taste, and the precise administrative requirements of a future invasion. Their conclusions are not always reassuring.
Depending on the DJ, sometimes the broadcast is conversational; sometimes it's humorous, sometimes spectacularly overconfident. Listen long enough and the station mythology starts to emerge between the songs.

Local AI and privacy
The AI stays local
Alien Pirate Radio uses Ollama for local AI-generated commentary. Ollama is installed separately and runs on your computer. Song metadata and selected news headlines are sent to the local Ollama service, not to a shared cloud API. The music files themselves are never sent to the AI.
Kokoro provides the preferred local text-to-speech voice engine and is bundled with the app. If local AI is unavailable, the station falls back to built-in commentary.

The trial includes the full Alien Pirate Radio experience for 60 minutes of actual transmission time: local music, alien presenters, shows, jingles, news, Ollama commentary, and both broadcast styles.
When the trial ends, the station mutes itself.

Requirements
- macOS on Apple Silicon
- A folder of local music with metadata (the more the better!)
- Ollama for the full local-AI experience
- Internet access for the initial Ollama download, and optional RSS news feeds
Ollama's Standard model is recommended for most modern Macs. A lighter model is available for machines with less memory.

Alien Pirate Radio uses optional local AI and speech tools, including Ollama/Llama and Kokoro. Your music stays on your Mac. Third-party components remain subject to their own licences and terms.
